Community Leadership Training

Leadership training dedicated to creating "grassroots" empowerment and neighborhood revitalization!

About the Institute:
We offer ongoing training and technincal assistance on a wide variety of neighborhood based leadership and organizational development topics. Or motto is "to create caring and sustainable neighborhoods that work for everyone".

The Institute serves to provide education skills training and technical assistance to residents and organizations interested in improving the quality of life in the greater Spokane Community. Our participants take active roles in neighborhood councils, COP Shops, community development steering committees, school site councils, and other non-profit boards and associations througout the metro area.

Our classes and training's combine to generate greater citizen involvement in civic intitiatives. The Institutes founders and contributors believe that if local residents are provided with the means to participate, important and lastingn community organizations can be built. INL serve's to advance the belief that citizenship requires faith in people to find common solutions for common problems.

Our current and ongoing course offerings include the following opportunities.
Community Leader Series
this seven-week course specifically designed to provice training on topics which will result in the successful empowerment and nuture of neighborhood leaders. Upon a successful completion, participants will receive a certificate of accomplishment demonstrating their ability and committment to neighborhood organization.

Community Leadership Classes
The classes cover a wide variety of subjects such as: board and meeting management, conflict resolution, neighborhood empowerment and organizing, public speaking, strategic planning, understanding government and volunteer recruitment, to name a few.

Strategic Community Training Initiative (SCI)
This 12 week course is specifically designed to assist neighborhood groups (especially neighborhood councils) in creating dynamic self-governing organizations through which neighborhood opportunities and priorities can be indentified, prioritized and implemented. Upon completion of SCTI, participants will recieve a certificate of accomplishment.
